Scout Section AGM Report 2025
The Scout section has enjoyed another varied and engaging year, full of opportunities for personal growth, teamwork, and most importantly fun. With 30 young people currently in the section and supported by seven dedicated volunteers (two of whom are shared with other sections), we've had a fantastic year of Scouting.
Summer Camp
Kicking off shortly after last year’s AGM, our Scouts — joined by some of our Explorers — headed off to East Grinstead for a week-long summer camp. The week was packed with adventure, skills, team building, badgework, and plenty of washing up!
Autumn to Summer Highlights
As we returned to regular meetings, we continued to offer a programme blending traditional Scouting activities with creative challenges and community engagement. Highlights from the past year include:
Crafting Veggie Racers and designing bus shelter posters to promote Scouting locally
Our now-annual Battle of the Conkers, with a big thank you to the Beavers for collecting so many on their visit to Hever Castle
A group campfire evening shared with Beavers, Cubs, and Explorers
Participation in Folkestone’s Remembrance Sunday, where our Scouts represented the section with pride
Festive Christmas crafts and party games
Creating and enjoying real hot chocolate
Constructing and racing their own chariots
Joining the wider District for the St George’s Day celebration at Leas Cliff Hall
A friendly, all-sections rounders match
And finishing the year with sandcastle building on Sunny Sands beach
Looking Ahead
We’re eagerly anticipating the Kent Scouts International Jamboree at the Detling Showground this August with 5000 scouts and guides from around the world. We have a group of 14 Scouts — joined by 16 of our Explorers, what promises to be a week full of international friendship, exciting activities, and unforgettable memories.
Thanks and Acknowledgments
It’s been another fantastic year, filled with laughter, learning, and leadership. None of this would be possible without the incredible efforts of our volunteer team, the ongoing support from parents and carers, and the enthusiasm of our Scouts themselves. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who has helped make this year a success.
We look forward to another year of fun, challenge, and adventure!
